To provide a honeycomb filter which has a low pressure loss and high collection efficiency of particulate matter (PM).
The honeycomb filter is a columnar honeycomb filter which mainly comprises inorganic fibers and keeps a plurality of through holes disposed parallel each other while being separated each other by a wall part and which seals one of the ends of each through hole. The honeycomb filter comprises a columnar honeycomb structure in which the inorganic fibers are more oriented in the forming direction of the through holes and which is integrally formed, laminated members which keep the inorganic fibers more oriented in a direction perpendicular to the forming direction of the through holes and overlie both end surfaces of the honeycomb structure so that each trough hole are superposed on the through hole of the honeycomb structure, a metal container in which the honeycomb structure and the laminated members are arranged, and members for the end part, fixed to both end parts of the metal container. The honeycomb structure and the laminated members are fixed by the members for the end part in the metal container.
