Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure preventing deviation in a can when being contained in the can, excellent in emission control performance, and excellent in thermal shock resistance.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure 100 comprises a honeycomb porous base material 5 including a cylindrical inner cylinder 11 that has a porous partition wall 4a mainly containing ceramic and defining and forming a plurality of cells 3a to serve as fluid channels, and an outer cylinder 21 that has a porous partition wall 4b mainly containing ceramic and defining and forming a plurality of cells 3b to serve as fluid channels and that is disposed to cover an outer circumference 12 of the inner cylinder 11, at least one side end face of the outer cylinder 21 being tapered such that an outside diameter is smaller toward a tip end 22.
