Abstract:

To provide a honeycomb structure which can carry a lot of catalysts, and can be used as a carrier of a honeycomb catalyst body which is favorable in purification efficiency.

In a honeycomb structure, a plurality of cells being a passage of fluid are partitioned and formed, the structure has a porous partitioning wall 5 formed with a plurality of fine holes 10, an air hole ratio of the partitioning wall 5 is 45 to 70%, and the total of areas of large fine holes 12 of the fine holes 10 whose largest diameters exceed 10 μm is not smaller than 50% of the total of areas of the fine holes 10 in a cross section orthogonal to a direction in which the cells extend.
