Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure which maintains a mechanical strength and hardly raises pressure loss of the outer circumference side on an inflow port side edge surface and to provide gas treatment equipment having the honeycomb structure.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure 1 includes an external wall 2, a plurality of partition walls 3 disposed on the inside of the external wall 2 and sealing material 4. Therein, a space surrounded by the external wall 2 and the partition walls 3, or a space surrounded by the partition walls 3 becomes a flow passage 5; an inflow port or an outflow port of the flow passage 5 is sealed with the sealing material 4; at least 85% of the sealing material 4 which seals the inflow port is provided with hollows 6 on an edge surface of the inflow port side; and the average depth of the hollows 6a on the outer circumference side is deeper than the average depth of hollows 6b on the inner circumference side.
