Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure capable of suppressing exudation of a catalyst from a periphery when carrying the catalyst.SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure 1 is provided with a honeycomb structure part 10 having porous partition walls 9 for comparting to form a plurality of cells 7, and an outer peripheral wall 17, and is constituted by a first region 13, which is an inner region in a section orthogonal to a direction in which the cells 7 extends, composed of partition walls 14, and a second region 15, which is an outer region surrounding the periphery of the first region 13, composed of partition walls 16 and/or a partition wall 17, where in the partition walls 14 composing the first region 13, the sum of the volume of pores having a pore size of not less than 10 μm measured by a mercury penetration method is not less than 60% of a total pore volume, and in the partition walls 16 and/or the outer peripheral wall 17, the sum of the volume of pores having a pore size of not less than 10 μm measured by the mercury penetration method is less than 50% of the total pore volume.
