To enable not only constant-speed diameter expanding control of a grinding wheel 12 but also constant-pressure diameter expanding control with fine accuracy while suppressing a rise in costs of a device by devising the structure of a rod 2 for expanding a diameter by pushing out the grinding wheel 12 in a honing tool B.
The rod 2 is divided into two of a rod main body 21 on the front end side and a base end member 20, and the two are rotated integrally with a coil spring 23 interposed therebetween and connected movably by a prescribed amount in the axial direction. The base end member 20 is moved by a lifting device 3, thereby making a changeover between an indirect condition in which it transmits a force in the axial direction to the rod main body 21 via the coil spring 23 and a direct condition (shown in Fig. 2) in which it is connected to the rod main body 21 directly without interposition of the coil spring 23.
