To perform deglazing machining for obtaining required surface roughness efficiently in a short time by preventing the occurrence of clogging in a grinding wheel and dispensing with dressing.
The grinding wheel 10 is formed by integrally joining a roughing grinding wheel 10a having hard abrasive grains positioned at the leading side to the rotating direction of a honing head 11 and a finishing grinding wheel 10b positioned on the following side and formed of hard resin without abrasive grains. The grinding wheel 10 is mounted on four grinding wheel holders 15 fitted to the periphery of the honing head 11 with a clamper. While the honing head 11 is rotated and moved in the axial direction of a cylinder liner 2 by an operating device 17, sharp crest parts of crests and valleys created on the inner peripheral surface 2a of the cylinder liner 2 by deglazing machining using the roughening grinding wheel 10a at the leading side are favorably flattened to be equalized by the finishing grinding wheel 10b at the trailing side. Thus, the inner peripheral surface 2a with a required surface roughness can be obtained in a short time.
