Abstract:
PURPOSE: To carry out a highly accurate honing to the inner circumferential surface 11A of a tube body 11 manufactured of a hard-to-grind material such as glass and ceramics.
CONSTITUTION: A clearance groove of a grinding liquid is formed to the outer circumference of a grinding chip 2 body of truncated conical shape, and at the same time, this grinding chip 2 is connected to a universal joint 6 provided with a recessed part at the tip thereof. An annular passage 9 for supplying the grinding liquid is formed between a handle part 7A of the grinding chip 2 and the recessed part 8 at the tip of the universal joint 6, and in addition, a grinding liquid injecting hole and an annular communicating clearance 13 to form a fluid bearing are formed between the hole surface 11A of a glass tube 11 and the cylindrical outer circumferential surface of the universal joint 6. A grinding liquid supplying passage is formed in the center part of a tool main spindle 4 in a penetrating manner, and the grinding chip 2 mounted on the tip through the universal joint 6 is drawn in the hole while being rotated from one end to the other of the glass tube 11 in order to carry out working.
