To provide a horizontal band saw which cuts a workpiece with an upper side traveling portion in a band saw blade which is wrapped around a driving wheel and a driven wheel.
In this horizontal band saw in which the endless band saw blade 23 is wrapped around the driving wheel 17 and the driven wheel 21 rotatably supported at a saw blade housing which can move in a vertical direction so as to be rotated freely, a pair of guide posts 7L, 7R which guide the saw blade housing in the vertical direction are provided between the driving wheel 17 and the driven wheel 21, and the upper traveling portion 23U of the band saw blade 23 is disposed on one side either the front or the rear of the guide posts 7L, 7R, and a lower traveling portion 23L of the band saw blade 23U is disposed on the other side of the rear or the front of the guide posts 7L, 7R. When the transverse band saw board is seen in the side view, a cross position between the axial core of both the wheels 17, 21 and the center line of a wheel width is positioned at roughly equal to or within the width of the guide posts 7L, 7R in the side view.
