The opening 50 in the cross-beam 21 of the main cylinder has dimensions suitable for charging the ingots into the ingot container 28 of the press, piercing the opening along a press axial line, and the cross-beam 21 of the main cylinder has a guide member 40 facing at right angle to the press axial line at an end face on a side facing an opposite cross-beam 22. Inside the guide member 40, in the case of the direct press method, a holder 41 for press ram is arranged, and in the case of the indirect press method, a closed disk is arranged shiftably in the lateral direction perpendicular to the press axial line so that the opening 50 in the cross-beam 21 of the main cylinder is released in the press axial line direction.
