To provide a horizontal shaft type sliding bearing device surely preventing leakage of oil vapor and oil droplets to the outside of a bearing box, allowing a compact configuration by suppressing increase of the outer shape, easy to disassemble and allowing maintenance work to be preformed easily and efficiently.
The horizontal shaft type sliding bearing device includes the bearing box 1 and a split type sliding bearing 2 supported in the bearing box 1 and lubricated with lubricating oil supplied from a forcible oil supply device, wherein the lubricating oil supplied to the bearing 2 is discharged from an oil drain hole 10 of the bearing 2 as drain oil and the drain oil is accumulated as residual oil 14 in an inner bottom of the bearing box 1. The sliding bearing 2 is supported via ribs 5, 6 provided integrally with the bearing box 1. The drain oil discharged from the oil drain hole 10 is led into the residual oil 14 in the inner bottom of the bearing box 1 through a drain oil guide path 25 constituted of an drain oil passage 25a formed on the outer peripheral face of the bearing 2 along the circumferential direction and a drain oil passage 25b formed on a thick wall portion of the rib 5.
