PURPOSE: To move a cage between a horizontal passage provided in an optional position and an elevator passage by providing a hollow for receiving the cage on a horizontally moving car disposed in a horizontal passage, and providing a second primary coil in the position facing the hollow to form the same structure as the elevator passage.

CONSTITUTION: A horizontal passage 35 is provided in an optional position connecting elevator passages 41, 42, and a cage receiving space is formed in a horizontally moving wheel 50 disposed on the horizontal passage 35. A primary coil is provided facing the space to form the same structure as the elevator passages 41, 42 having primary coils 43 mounted on the wall surfaces. On the surfaces corresponding to the primary coils 43 of cages A-C, secondary conductors 44 are provided. The moving car 50 is transferred into the elevator passages 41, 42, the cages A-C are raised and lowered by the linear operation of the coils 43 and the conductors 44 and stopped in or passed through the moving wheel 50 moving in the horizontal passage 53. Thus, a passenger can get on and off in the horizontal passage 53 provided in a desired optional position.
