PURPOSE: To improve VSWR by forming the surface which features such curvature that the reflected waves caused by the horn cover may not concentrate with the same phase at the phase center of the horn or the antenna.
CONSTITUTION: The electric waves entered horn cover 3 from phase center 2 of hone 1 turns to reflected wave 7 with part of them reflectd by cover 3. In this case, curvature radius 5 of the cover is decided so that wave 7 at each point of cover 3 may not concentrate at the phase center of horn 1. Thus VSWR features the value obtaine from Eq. (2) if the composite wave of the reflected waves is defined at the gamma at center 2 of horn 1. Accordingly, radius 5 can be decided to reduce gamma. The above can be applied not only to the horn antenna cover but to other covers such as the one which is used on the opening surface of the main reflector of the miniature Cassegrain antenna consisting of the primary horn and the main/secondary reflectors.
