To provide a host device for providing a device catalog having aligned slave devices based on an already set alignment reference, and its control method.
The host device comprises an IEEE1394 interface section connected with the slave devices, and an input section for receiving a device catalog display command to the slave devices. The host device also comprises a device catalog managing section for creating the device catalog of the slave devices by aligning the slave devices based on the alignment reference of the types of the already set devices using the device types of the device information of the slave devices. The host device also comprises a display section, and a control section for controlling the device catalog managing section to create the device catalog when the device catalog display command is inputted and performing control so as to display the device catalog on the display section. Thus, the predetermined memory region can be reduced, so that the product production unit cost can be lowered.
