Title:
HOT-MELT ADHESIVE FOR BOOKBINDING AND CALENDAR PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3912508
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-melt adhesive which is excellent in workability and bonding characteristics in bookbinding and calendar production, and is hardly disintegrated even in the step of fibrillation by a pulper in reclaiming waste paper so that the amount of a hot-melt adhesive passing through a filter can be a standard value or lower in a practical test method.
SOLUTION: The hot-melt adhesive contains (A) 40-65 wt.% of an ethylene copolymer containing at least 5 wt.% of a highly crystalline ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, (B) 20-45 wt.% of a tackifier resin, and (C) 5-30 wt.% of a wax. It has 50% modulus strength of 20-40 kgf/cm2 in the tensile test at 23°C and an RH of 65%, and a melt viscosity at 180°C of 1,000-10,000 mPas. It is excellent in workability because of its fast solidifying speed when used. Since it is not disintegrated in the step of fibrillation by a pulper in reclaiming as waste paper and can facilitate filtration by a filter, it is suitable for bookbinding and calendar production without adversely affecting a paper-making step and the quality of paper.
