To stably recover secondary dust having high zinc concentration by exactly controlling the zinc concentration in the secondary dust, when molten iron is produced while charging furnace-produced dust in a recycling manner as dust agglomerate in a vertical-type scrap-melting furnace.
The zinc concentration (a) in the dust-agglomerate to be charged into the furnace, is preliminarily measured, and on the basis of the known relation among the zinc concentration (a) in the dust-agglomerate, the furnace charging quantity (b) of the dust-agglomerate and the zinc concentration (c) in the produced secondary dust, when the blending ratio (d) of coke-kind is made constant, the furnace charging quantity (b) of the dust-agglomerate corresponding to the zinc concentration (c) in the produced secondary dust as the target, is obtained from the above measured zinc concentration (a) in the dust agglomerate, and the dust agglomerate of this quantity, is charged into the furnace to perform the operation.
