To improve quality of a molded sample by a method wherein a density of the molded sample is made uniform and a die is held in a soaking region in a heating chamber in such a way that pressing forces acted upon the sample with two punches are made equal.
This hot press device is operated such that a sample M loaded into a cylindrical die 2 is held by two punches 3a, 3b inserted from each of both ends of the die 2 and each of the punches 3a, 3b is moved by each of cylinder mechanisms under a state in which the die 2 is slidingly arranged in respect to the two punches 3a, 3b, thereby the sample M is press formed while it is being heated. Die moving displacement amount sensing mechanisms 7, 8 for use in sensing a moving displacement amount of the die 2 are arranged and when a moving displacement amount of the die 2 reaches a predetermined limited moving displacement amount, the cylinder mechanism for the punch where the die 2 is moved is driven to cause the die 2 to move toward the center of the device.
