Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve thermal impact resistance and wear resistance and to prolong a product life by constituting the ceramic roller to be used for a hot rolling line by using a silicon nitride material having a specific value or above of Vickers hardness at a specific temp.
CONSTITUTION: The ceramic roller to be used for the hot rolling line is constituted by using the silicon nitride material having ≥9.0GPa Vickers hardness at 800°C. The roller for use under stricter rolling conditions is constituted by using the silicon nitride material having ≥10.0GPa Vickers hardness at 1000°C. Molded raw materials obtd. by adding and mixing sintering assistants to and with silicon nitride powder are molded by rubber press molding to a cylindrical shape and the molded materials are cut by a lathe. The lathed work obtd. in such a manner is sintered in an N2 atmosphere and the calcined body obtd. in such a manner is subjected to machining (finishing), by which the roller having the final shape and size is obtd. As a result, the rolling roll and guide roller made of the ceramics having the prolonged product life are obtd.
