PURPOSE: To enable the tight coiling of a material to be rolled such as stainless steel with which the coiling at a high temp. is permitted by disposing a proximity coiler in proximity to the outlet side of a finishing mill and on the inlet side of a cooler and a remote coiler on the outlet side of the cooler.

CONSTITUTION: In a hot rolling installation disposed with a proximity coiler 13, a cooler 7 and a remote coiler 2 on the outlet side of a final stand 1A of a finishing mill 1, the coiler 13 is disposed in proximity to the outlet side of the stand 1A of the mill 1 and on the inlet side of the cooler 7 while the coiler 2 is disposed on the outlet side of the cooler 7. If the material to be rolled requires annealing such as stainless steel, the material is coiled by the coiler 13 in proximity to the outlet side of the stand 1A without passing the same through the cooler. The wound coil is made tight in this case and the damage occuring in the loose coil is eliminated.
