Abstract:
PURPOSE: To shorten the period of time from the removal of slag after casting to the change of a nozzle and to enable the omission of reheating of a tundish by providing a slag removal pot for the slag in a tundish and a refractory maintenance device between a casting position and a preheating position.
CONSTITUTION: After completing the casting, a tundish car 16 is shifted from the casting position 1 to a slag discharge position 2, and remaining molten steel and slag in the tundish 8 are discharged into the slag discharge pot with a tilting device. After discharge, the tundish car is shifted to the refractory maintenance device 3 and a tundish refractory maintenance truck 20 shiftable on traveling rails 18 crossed with tundish car traveling rail 5 is sent under the tundish 8 to execute the change and the maintenance of the refractory. The tundish car 16 is returned back tot the casting position 1 and the casting is started, but in the case of executing no continuous casting, the tundish car is shifted to the preheating position 21 and the tundish 8 is heated to prevent the lowering of the temp. In such a way, the time required for changing the nozzle after casting can be shortened.
