This water heater comprises a heater 1 heating hot water in a tank 3 for storing hot water, an additional heat exchanger 4 arranged in an upper part of the tank 3, a first hot water supply pipe 8 supplying hot water in the tank, a second hot water supply pipe arranged in an upper part within the tank 3, and a hot water supply changeover valve 15 switching the first and second hot water supply pipes to supply hot water. When a hot water supply switching temperature sensor 16 detects a predetermined temperature or lower, the changeover valve 15 performs switching the changeover valve to the second hot water supply pipe.
