PURPOSE: To enlarge a rate of diameter reduction and to enable working a small-sized pipe of a difficultly workable material by plastic working a tubular body of a metallic material, etc. while heating between a ceramic mandrel burying a heating element and a die or a roll burying a heating element.
CONSTITUTION: The ceramic heating mandrel 2 burying the electric heating element 21 is inserted into the tubular pipe 1 of the metallic material. The ceramic mandrel 2 is heated by supplying an electric current from a top fitting part 11 and an opening end part of the tubular body 1 is gripped by a catcher 11 and pulled in the die 3 heated by supplying the electric current to the buried heating body 4, the plastic working is performed between both heating elements. In this internal and external heating, the tubular body 1 is made possible to safely enlarge the diameter reducing rate and even the pipe of difficultly workable material such as molybdenum, titantum, etc., is made possible to draw excellently into small-sized pipe having ≤3mm diameter and a manufacturing cost becomes inexpensive. Moreover, the heated roll may be used in place of the die 3.
