To photo-decompose and remove polluted air containing odorous substances and bacteria most efficiently by arranging at least one ultrasonic light source fitted with a cylindrical honeycomb structure in a housing box main body.
In a housing box main body 1, a cylindrical honeycomb structure 2 fitted to contact a rack plate 4 and an ultraviolet light source 3 directly is installed in the lower part. The structure 2 is composed of, for example, a titanium oxide-coated sheet obtained by a process in which fine powder of titanium oxide is dispersed with a dispersant in water, after a colloidal solution of silica or alumina is added and stirred, and an organic polymer binder is added and stirred to prepare an titanium oxide coating dispersion, which is applied on both sides of a support and dried. When polluted air is introduced into the space of the honeycomb structure 2 by circulation by natural convection to contact the wall of the structure 2, numberless swirls are generated, the polluted air containing odorous substances and bacteria penetrate deep into a titanium oxide support sheet layer to be photo-decomposed/removed.
