Title:
HOUSING STRUCTURE FOR POWER STEERING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3895437
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize weight reduction and enhanced corrosion resistance by forming an insulating portion at least on a joined portion between a pinion housing and other heterogeneous metallic member.
SOLUTION: A valve housing 6 is formed of an iron metal, an outer periphery of which is subjected to an epoxy coating treatment. A pinion housing 11 is formed of a magnesium alloy for reducing the weight. Both housing 6, 11 are joined at an internal thread 11a of the pinion housing 11 using a spring washer 52, washer 53 and a bolt 51 each formed of an iron having an anti-corrosion chromate coat for iron metal formed on the surface thereof, which constitute a steering gear housing. An insulating coating 54 is formed by applying a rubber paint and an epoxy paint to the portion possible to be brought into connect or contact with other member. As a result, corrosion can be prevented by keeping electrons from crossing over the heterogeneous members and the weight of the resultant steering gear housing can be reduced.
