To provide a housing vessel in which emergency supplies can be housed and drinking water can be secured by producing distilled water from available water unsuitable for drinking even at a shelter when a life at the shelter is continued for a long period of time.

The housing vessel is provided with: a housing part 1 having an opening 1c for taking an article in and out; and a steam cooler 4 arranged in the opening 1c and for cooling steam, and is constituted so that sea water is poured into the housing part 1, the poured seawater is heated to generate steam and the generated steam is cooled by the steam cooler 4 to produce drinking water.
