Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple small-sized housingless roll stand, that only two screw piers are needed to adjust symmetrical separation of rolls.
SOLUTION: This roll stand is provided with a supporting structure 12 fixed in a prescribed position along the center line of a mill, a 1st work roll which has a roll neck and rotatably fit in a bearing held inside a 1st chock 36a, the 2nd work roll which has a roll neck and is rotatably fit in a bearing held inside the 2nd chock 36b, a means for connecting the 1st and 2nd chocks 36a, 36b which are arranged on the opposite sides of the center line of the mill to the supporting structure 12 so as to pivotally rotate them around a 1st and 2nd connecting shafts and an adjusting means for symmetrically adjusting the separation between the work rolls by simultaneously pivotally rotating the 1st and 2nd chocks 36a, 36b in the opposite direction around the connecting shafts.
