To provide a method for avoiding inhibition in a nucleic acid proliferation reaction, by which the inhibition of the nucleic acid proliferation reaction due to food material ingredients can be avoided, when a gene examination using the nucleic acid proliferation reaction is performed in microbes obtained by a culture method, and to provide a nucleic acid proliferation method using the method.

The method for avoiding the inhibition in the nucleic acid proliferation reaction due to food material ingredients comprises adding a metal ion to a sample to be examined, obtained by a proliferation culture method, in a method for proliferating nucleic acid originated from a microorganism contained in a polluted food material.
