Abstract:
To provide a highly efficient PGM recovery method for recovering PGM from a PGM-containing object to be treated.SOLUTION: A PGM recovery method performs the following steps: a reduction smelting step of charging a PGM-containing object, Cu and/or CuO, a flux and a C-containing material into an electric furnace, performing reduction smelting on them, melting all of them, forming a molten slag layer and an electric furnace metal layer, then extracting the electric furnace slag layer, thus obtaining a PGM-containing electric furnace metal; and an oxidation-smelting step of transferring the electric furnace metal to an oxidation furnace, performing oxidation melting on the electric furnace metal, forming a CuO slag layer and a PGM alloy layer, then extracting the CuO slag layer, thus obtaining a PGM alloy with the concentrated PGM, wherein in the reduction-smelting step, a furnace top temperature of the electric furnace is controlled to 900°C or higher and 1,200°C or lower during extraction and discharge of the molten slag layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
