Abstract:
A method of controlling pine wilt disease caused by pine wood nematodes is provided to reduce the amount of liquid chemical to be injected and to enable the user to conveniently perform injection working within a short time. Pine wilt disease caused by pine wood nematodes is controlled by injecting a liquid chemical containing a nematocidal compound into each injection port with the number specified by a mathematical formula such as the number of a liquid chemical injection port = an average diameter(cm)x3.14/n(n is an optional positive integer of less than 20). The liquid chemical injection port has the height above the ground in the range of 0 to 2m and the distance between the liquid chemical injection port of the uppermost position and the liquid chemical injection port of the lowermost position in the axial direction of the tree trunk in the range of less than 50cm. The liquid chemical injection port is installed at a slope of 10 to 60 degrees to the horizontal direction to allow the distance on an outer circumference of a cross section of the tree trunk of two projected adjacent liquid chemical injection ports to be less than 20cm when the liquid chemical injection port is projected to the cross section of the tree trunk orthogonal to the axis of the tree trunk.
