Abstract:
To grasp a remaining number of roll paper labels without setting the label paper thickness in advance.SOLUTION: In a printing device for performing printing on labels of a paper roll formed of a label sheet in which the labels are detachably adhered and which is wound in a roll shape; a distance to an outer surface of the cylindrical paper roll detected by a distance sensor, is obtained by a label length detection part during a period that the distance changes from a first distance to a second distance at printing operation; a label remaining number detection part obtains a thickness of the label sheet, on the basis of a length between the labels included in the label sheet sent from a label paper discharge part to a printing part, a number of the labels printed by the printing part, the first distance and the second distance; and then, on the basis of the obtained length between the labels, the obtained thickness of the label sheet, and a third distance which is a distance detected by the distance sensor and which has a length equal to or longer than the second distance, the label remaining number detection part obtains a remaining number of the labels contained in the paper roll having an outer diameter corresponding to the third distance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
