Abstract:
To provide a method for treating a waste plastic by which the waste plastic is highly effectively utilized and useful components such as benzene, toluene or xylene (BTX) in a large amount are obtained from the waste plastic.
The method for treating the waste plastic is carried out as follows. Hydrogen is added to a liquid monocyclic or a polycyclic aromatic compound containing the heated and liquefied waste plastic to carry out a hydrogenolysis reaction. The resultant reaction product is reacted in the presence of a cyclization catalyst to produce at least one kind of the benzene, toluene and xylene.
