Abstract:
To prevent discharge of cobalt (Co) and oxygen (O) from surfaces of positive electrode active material particles and to reduce cracks and defect of positive electrode active material particles in order to prevent segregation of cobalt to negative electrodes or separators.SOLUTION: Active material particles include lithium, metal elements M1, metal elements M2 of II-valent and/or IV-valent, and oxygen. A metal atom M1 is one or more of cobalt, manganese and nickel. The active material particles have one or more crystallites. The active material particles have a first area positioned inside and a second area positioned outside the first area. The second area uses for the secondary battery the active material particles including more metal elements M2 than the first area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
