Abstract:

To improve a coercive force of HDDR (hydrogenation-disproportionation-desorption-recombination) magnetic powder by mixing an element not including Ga, Dy and Tb with R-T-B based alloy powder to apply HDDR treatment to mixed powder.

The method for manufacturing an R-T-B based permanent magnet includes a step for preparing R-T-B based alloy powder containing >29 and ≤40 mass% of a rare earth amount and ≥0.3 mass% and ≤2 mass% of a B amount in a composition, a step for preparing Zn-containing powder as a metal or an alloy containing at least ≥30 mass% of Zn and not containing Ga, Dy and Tb, a step for mixing the R-T-B based alloy powder and the Zn-containing powder so that the Zn is ≥0.05 and ≤1.5 mass% in the total content to produce mixed powder, and a step for applying HDDR treatment to the mixed powder.
