To provide a method for manufacturing a pulley by which burrs formed by an unnecessary material flow from being caused in a flange formed on the outer circumference of the bottom of a raw material.
In this manufacturing method, a bottomed cylindrical raw material W having an annular projecting part WC projecting from the outer circumference of the bottom WB is allowed to abut on a mandrel 2 composed of a cylindrical part 21 with a predetermined space from the inner surface S of the raw material W, and an inclined part 22 abutting on the opening end WT of the raw material. Then, a tailstock 3 is abutted on a raw material bottom WB, and the raw material W is turned while being held by the mandrel 2 and the tailstock 3. The tailstock 3 is pressed against the mandrel 2 side while pressing a flat roller R against the vicinity of the bottom of a raw material circumferential surface WS. The raw material circumferential surface WS is folded and abutted on the side face of the annular projecting part WC, and the opening end WT of the raw material W is fallen outwardly so as to be held by a flat roller side face R' and the inclined part 22 of the mandrel 2.
