To provide a method for separating filter plates in a filter press capable of easily removing cake that otherwise cloggs feed holes, and a filter press employed in the method.
The filter press 10 for filtering slurry comprised of a plurality of interconnected filter plates 12 in a superposed state supported by a frame 11 with filter cloths 14 held therebetween is equipped with a pair of filter-plate opening/closing devices 13 for moving the filter plates 12 in a predetermined direction with each of the devices 13 disposed at either of the extreme ends of a plurality of the superposed filter plates 12 respectively, and a scraper 41 penetratingly disposed in feed holes 31 each provided with on each of the filter plates 12 for the purpose of allowing slurry to flow. The cake present inside the feed holes 31 is scraped off outside the feed holes 31 by regulating the movement of the scraper 41 while keeping one end of the scraper 41 fixed outside of the feed holes 31 and allowing the filter plates 12 to move upon mutually separating a plurality of the superposed filter plates 12 by moving the filter plates 12 in the predetermined direction one after another using the filter-plate opening/closing devices 13 after the completion of the slurry filtration.
