To provide a method for operating a blast furnace while using ferrocoke as a raw material, which makes iron oxide in ferrocoke reduced better, and solves problems of a conventional technology for manufacturing the ferrocoke.
The method for operating the blast furnace comprises; when charging the ferrocoke 8 manufactured by molding the raw material containing coal and iron ore as main components, coke 9 and an iron ore 7 into the blast furnace, charging the coke, the iron ore and the ferrocoke in the described order; and repeating the cycle of charging the coke, the iron ore and the ferrocoke in the order. The ferrocoke is manufactured preferably by heating the raw material containing the coal and the iron ore as the main components, hot-molding it into a block molding, and heating the block molding to carbonize the coal in the block molding. It is also preferable to use biomass and waste plastic in addition to the coal and the iron ore, for the raw material of the ferrocoke.
