Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid reduction in the lifetime of a machine caused by favored working chambers fatigued or worn faster than infrequently used working chambers.SOLUTION: In a method of operating a fluid-working machine, the volume of working fluid displaced in each cycle is selectable, and the volume of working fluid displaced by a first working chamber takes into account the suitability of the working chamber to displace fluid. The invention extends in further aspects to wind or tidal turbine generator equipment such as renewable energy devices comprising such fluid working machines.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
