To provide a gasification furnace in which an organic fuel fed to the interior of the furnace does not cause accumulation in unburned state and to provide a method for preventing occurrence of unburned material in the gasification furnace.
A rotary grate structure composed of an openable rotary grate is installed in the vicinity of a gasifying agent-injecting inlet in a furnace body. The unburned material of the organic fuel dropping toward the furnace bottom is caught by a rotary grate structure and the caught unburned material is retained in a state in which the rotary grate is closed until the unburned material is sufficiently burned. In the gasification furnace, an opening and closing means of the grate is preferably installed.
