Abstract:

Mileage is stored (100) when an engine switches off. A control device is initialised (101) when the engine starts up. The mileage status is then read from the memory store. Current mileage/kilometre status (103) is read by a milometre and checked (104) against status stored in memory. If not equal to, or greater than, the stored mileage, then manipulation is assumed. Otherwise, current mileage is stored and normal control device routines are resumed.
