Abstract:
To provide a method for purifying contaminated soil or contaminated water swiftly decomposing an organic halogen compound contained in soil or water such as ground water contaminated with the organic halogen compound such as TCE (trichloroethylene) while suppressing formation of an easily water-soluble intermediate compound or making the intermediate compound a water-insoluble form to make soil or water such as ground water harmless.
The contaminated soil or the contaminated water containing the organic halogen compound such as trichloroethylene is doped with iron pyrite having a particle size of 20 to 200 μm to decompose the organic halogen compound.
