Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to collect rare earth elements from a rare earth magnet which can collect high-grade rare earth elements from a used rare earth magnet with high yield and cheap as possible.SOLUTION: A method to collect rare earth elements from a rare earth magnet includes: a first step soaking the rare earth magnet in water, adding nitric acid, keeping the temperature of the liquid in 50-95°C, dissolving the rare earth magnet and generating a solution; a second step adjusting the pH of the solution in 1.5-2.5, generating a ferrous compound by heating to 65-95°C, and collecting and washing supernatant liquid containing the rare earth magnet components; a third step extracting the rare earth magnet components in an organic phase by contacting the supernatant liquid with a solvent; and a forth step generating rare earth oxides by extracting the rare earth magnet components in a nitric acid phase from the organic phase and crystallizing and burning.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
