Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which makes it possible to reuse a lead electrolyte, which is used in electrolytic refining of crude lead, as an electrolyte even after recovery of thallium.SOLUTION: The recycling method of a lead electrolyte comprises: a thallium recovering step where iodide ions are added to a lead electrolyte containing silicofluoride ions, a leveling agent, and thallium ions, and a thallium ion concentration is made to be, for example, 0.5 to 10 g/L by separating and recovering precipitated thallium iodide crystals; an iodide removal step where silver ions are added to the lead electrolyte, after the recovery of thallium, in a molar ratio relative to iodide ions, Ag/I, of 1 to 10 to precipitate silver iodide crystals, and the precipitated silver iodide is separated and recovered; and a silver recovery step where the lead electrolyte after the iodide removal step is electrolyzed by using lead as an anode and a cathode, and silver is recovered by precipitating metallic silver on a cathode surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
