A three-dimensional shape model is formed for a die on the basis of its three-dimensional CAD data (S1, 2); if the opening region of the air vent is a specified region of the three-dimensional shape model (S3: YES), the opening position of the air vent is selected to an area with a small curvature in the region (S4); if the opening region of the air vent is outside the specified region of the three-dimensional shape model (S3: NO), the opening position of the air vent is selected to a recessed area in the region (S5) and; the machining position of the air vent is calculated at each opening position selected in the first and the second selecting stage of the air vent opening position (S6).
