Abstract:
To provide a method for manufacturing an outer member of a hub unit bearing by which such a state that an outer ring to be an another member is strongly integrated even when temperature rises during rotation is secured and the outer member securing strength of an outer ring raceway surface is obtained.
The outer member 2 with which the outer ring 21 is united is manufactured by a casting step of casting melted nonferrous metal in a mold while the outer ring 21 having recessed part 21b in an outer peripheral surface thereof is disposed in the mold. The raceway surface 21a of the outer ring 21 after the casting step is then subjected to high frequency hardening and then tempering.
