PURPOSE: To provide a method and an apparatus for removing copper promoting melting of the copper and reducing and eliminating volatilizing loss of ammonia during the treatment, in a copper removing treatment selectively melting the copper in scrap by treating the ferro-scrap containing the copper with aqueous ammonia solution in the presence of oxygen.

CONSTITUTION: The oxygen or the air is recovered from above the liquid surface and circulatively used by blowing into the aqueous solution from a blowing vessel 2 through a circulating passage 3, and the aqueous solution is stirred by gas bubbling.
