Title:
HULL WITH SIDE KEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS632791
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To keep a hull stable without tilting so as to prevent rolling and to increase the sailing speed by defining between right and left side keels a recess serving as a central keel and vertically adjusting bottom surfaces of the side keels. CONSTITUTION:Wedge-shaped hollow side keels 3 are projectingly secured to right and left sides of an inclined bottom surface 2 of a stern 1 and extend therealong, so that the central portion of the bottom of the stern defined between the side keels forms a recess 4. Each of the side keels 3 has a bottom plate 5 made of an elastic plastic plate and having three right, left and outside edges separated from the side keel 3 and only an inside edge 5' fixed to the inner end of the side keel 3. At sailing of the ship, actuating members 6 on both sides simultaneously or either one thereof is vertically moved manually or through suitable means such as an oil cylinder. Normally, the bottom plates are lowered to be flush with the ship's bottom and lifted as required.
