PURPOSE: To enable measurement of physical properties of a sample as functions of temperature and humidity by controlling the humidity in a sample chamber simultaneously with the temperature therein.
CONSTITUTION: On the occasion of measurement, a sample temperature control heater 22 is made to operate on the basis of an output of a temperature program function generator 1, and the temperature of a sample 13 on a sample holder 14 is controlled through the intermediary of a furnace tube 16. Meanwhile, an arithmetic part 4 calculates control target temperatures of water temperature and heat insulating pipe controllers 5 and 6 on the basis of an output temperature of the generator 1, an output humidity of a humidity program function generator 2, a functional relationship between the temperature and a saturated water vapor pressure being an output of a storage means 3 and flow rates of purge gas and bubbling gas obtained from flowmeters 10. Thereby controlling the temperatures of distilled water in a glass bottle 8 and of a heat insulating pipe 12 and introducing the bubbling gas 11 into the distilled water is replaced by saturated water vapor, which is sent into the circumference of the sample 13. Besides, a water vapor pressure and relative humidity are determined on the basis of the ambient temperature of the sample 13 and the water temperature, and the humidity around the sample 13 is controlled in accordance with a humidity program value of the generator 2.
