PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid drive controller which does not need change of forward/backward motion by using an unlimited variable transmission. SOLUTION: A hybrid drive device has a gasoline engine 1 and a motor- generator 2, the continuously variable transmission which change torque ratios between a primary shaft 8 and a secondary shaft 15, and an unlimited variable transmission 18, which has a planetary gear unit 19 which includes a carrier 19c interlocked with the primary side of the continuously variable transmission, a sun gear 19s interlocked with the secondary side of the infinitely variable transmission and a ring gear 19r by which the rotation of the carrier 19c and the rotation of the sun gear 19s are synthesized and outputted to driving wheels and practices the neutral control by which the infinitely variable transmission is controlled, so as to be converged automatically to a neutral position and the variable speed control by which the speed is infinitely varied from the neutral position. If a shift lever 33 indicates backward motion, the motor- generator 2 is turned in the direction opposite to the direction of the forward motion.
