Abstract:
PURPOSE:To lower the weight of a driving system and to reduce the number of accessory parts, by connecting an air compressor to the turning shaft of an AC motor, connecting a pneumatic motor to the air compressor, and thereby enabling to obtain a turning force from the pneumatic motor. CONSTITUTION:In case that a hybrid engine of this invention is applied in a ground transport system, the ground transport system is constituted by a vehicle 4 which is driven on a plurality of rails 2 and ground surface 3 with supply of current from an aerial line 1. The vehicle 4 is equipped with a pantograph 7 engageable with the aerial line 1 at the top of vehicle body 6 and it is also equipped with a steering means consisting of a handle 8 and others. In order to driving the vehicle 4, there is provided a hybrid engine 18. This engine 18 comprises an AC motor 19 driven by AC current, an air compressor 20 connected operatively to the AC motor 19, and a pneumatic motor 21 driven by compressed air for driving an axle 10. Further, a pressure accumulating air tank 27 is connected to the air compressor 20 via a check valve 23.
