Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a hybrid gas generator to inflate an airbag.
SOLUTION: This gas generator 1 comprises two mutually welded metallic tubes 50, 51, and the upstream tube 50 is a component integrated with a partition 26 having a center hole 27 closed by a diaphragm 28. It has a storage chamber 29 storing a pressurized gas, and a combustion/mixing chamber 46 containing an ignition device 4 and a supportive component 30 to support a piston pole 31 having a limited stroke. Since a high temperature gas can not flow into the storage chamber 29, a larger quantity of gas can be stored.
